I’m sure many of you out there have noticed on Facebook the flurry of hastily-made memes and captioned images suggesting something fishy about the Boston attacks. I haven’t tried to engage with any of them yet but I suspect that if I seem just a bit skeptical about what they’re posting, I’ll immediately be attacked for having no brain or not understanding what our government is really planning to do with all of us.
It’s a shame really. Some of these friends of mine who post this garbage were genuinely close to me at some point in the past. Now a lot of them seem to take on this cookie-cutter caricature of some Rand or Ron Paul fanatic. It makes me wonder if I could even have a decent conversation with them in person now.
Of course there will still be questions regarding the events of April 15, 2013. But this does not mean we should give up on facts. Spreading rumors and gossip will only lead to more fear and paranoia about things to which most of us won’t have any direct connection.
Seriously. SHE was going off the deep end like no one’s business. So many people in this country did. It’s kinda scary how anti-intellectual people are becoming.
